Mother-Tongue is the Living Soul of a People

“Mother-Tongue is the Living Soul of a People” is the IInd city and district festival-competition which is dedicated to the International Mother Language Day .
 


Within the “Mother-Tongue Through One and All” project framework the second city and district festival-competition “Mother-Tongue is the Living Soul of a People” was held at the premises of the Center for Social, Cultural and Education Initiative of the Department of General Science Disciplines.

The topics of the festival-competition were as follows:
1.    “Ode to the Mother-Tongue” original poems competition.
2.    “Letter to the Mother-Tongue Founder” epistolary competition.
The competitions aim is to draw attention to the mother-tongue as to a source of understanding of people’s cultural traditions and national identity base.

28 people from 16 educational institutes and 2 participants from the Rybnitsa branch took part in the original poems competition in the following categories: “An Ode to the Mother Tongue, i.e. to Russian”, “An Ode to the Mother Tongue, i.e. to Ukrainian”, “An Ode to the Mother Tongue, i.e. to Moldavian” for different age groups. Senior Lecturer of the Department of Applied Information Science in Economics Skaletskiy Maxim A. with his ode “I love My Mother-Tongue” took the first place. The third-year student, Korchinskaya Julia (the training program in “Teacher Education” specializing in “Foreign Language” with the additional specialization in “Foreign Language”), took the third place with her ode “A Long Way”.

56 pupils from 26 educational institutions participated in the epistolary competition in the following categories: “A letter to Pushkin” (in Russian); “A letter to Shevchenko” (in Ukrainian); “A letter to Eminescu” (in Moldavian).

Every participant was given an opportunity to express his attitude to the mother-tongue being a powerful means of preserving and developing every people’s material and spiritual heritage.
The department professors, school teachers and the Pridnestrovian Writers’ Association members Marina Sycheva, Tamara Bazilevskaya and Nina Andriutsa were involved in assessing creative works.
