THE SEMINAR DEVOTED TO NEW TECHNIQUES OF TEACHING ENGLISH

On October 30, in the Foreign Languages Chair of the PSU, the seminar devoted to new techniques of teaching English was held.
 


The seminar was held by Kevin McCough, the representative of the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine, the teacher of English with long-term experience in more than 20 countries of the world. At the seminar there was a deputy chief of the Culture and Press Department of the U.S. Embassy, Keith Bartlett, the assistant according to programs of the U.S. Embassy in the RM, Valentine Petrasov Spinu, teachers of the Foreign Languages Chair, school teachers of English, and also students of the chair.

Kevin McCough held the seminar on the topic: “Re-Thinking the Way We Teach Listening. How to Increase Listening Activities.” The seminar was devoted to teaching techniques of English, in particular development of communicative competence and its language components on the basis of audiomaterials.

All the attendees took active part in the discussion of the offered problems. Kevin McCough’s presentation was very actual, informative and fascinating, both for the present teachers and for students. The offered modern forms of work can be used in teaching English both at secondary and higher school. All the participants of the seminar were issued with certificates of participants. The Foreign Languages Chair will also hold further similar meetings with the purpose of professional growth of teachers of English, and also for improvement the process of training on the professional competence formation of students.
