THE 71ST ANNIVERSARY OF THE CITY EMANCIPATION FROM GERMAN-ROMANIAN INVADERS
On March 30, 2015 in Ribnitsa there were commemorative events dedicated to the 71st anniversary of the emancipation from German-Romanian invaders. Ceremonies were attended by the state administration head of Rybnitsa and the Rybnitsa district, A. Demiyanova, the Chairman of Council of People’s Deputies of Rybnitsa and the Rybnitsa district, V. Lozovsky, clergy, representatives of labor collectives, public organizations, pupils and students of the Pridnestrovian State University, the branch in Rybnitsa.
War came to the city with explosions of bombs at dawn on June 27, 1941. More than 2 thousand city and district inhabitants went up the line. From August 5, 1941 after withdrawal of Soviet troops the darkest days of Nazi occupation began, which lasted almost three years. During the occupation the national economy was completely destroyed in Ribnitsa: industrial enterprises were destroyed, farms were devastated. The Nazis shot thousands of Soviet people. More than five thousand Jews died in Rybnitsa ghetto but before the Rybnitsa emancipation hundreds of patriots were burned alive in the city jail. Nearly three thousand prisoners among who there were women and children died during the occupation.
On March 30, 1944 the 41st guards rifle division under the command of Major General Konstantin Tsvetkov completely emancipated Rybnitsa and the Rybnitsa district from the German-Romanian invaders. On March 30, 2015 Rybnitsa citizens headed by city leaders laid flowers to the commander monument of the 41st guards rifle division, Major General Konstantin Tsvetkov, then the meeting with laying wreaths and flowers at the Eternal Light took place at the Glory Obelisk.
March 30 is a memorable day in the history of our city. Cherished memory of the great feat of defenders of the Fatherland and our homeland will remain in our hearts forever and will be sacred to us. Eternal glory to heroes who survived and won in the Great Patriotic War for the sake of future generations.
