PROBLEMS OF EDUCATION AND MENTORING IN A MODERN UNIVERSITY
On November 22, 2022, an online round table “Problems of education and mentoring in a modern university” was held at the Department of the Germanic Languages and Methods of Their Teaching. During the event, a number of issues related to the organization of educational work and mentoring in the field of higher education in general and in the Pridnestrovian State University in particular were considered.
Associate Professor of the Department V.G. Egorova touched upon the problem of a shortage of pedagogical personnel for the education system. Among the main causes of this problem, demographic reasons were noted, as well as a large variation in the level of training in different universities. As ways of solving, there were offered such aspects as the active inclusion of the employer in the training process and the creation of projects together with employers to consolidate young teachers in the profession, the involvement of regional educational authorities, the field of labor and employment, public organizations and associations in the training of teachers.
Further, at the round table, the issue of forming an electronic portfolio of students was discussed. Senior Lecturer I.V. Basyuk revealed the content of the main points of the “Regulation on the electronic portfolio of a student at the PSU named after T.G. Shevchenko”. In particular, the essence of an electronic portfolio, the goals of its creation, the main structure and content of this document were considered. The importance of preparing an electronic portfolio as a means of monitoring the personal and professional growth of the student was emphasized.
In the message of Associate Professor of the Department A.N. Russu, the main functions of an e-portfolio of the student were presented, typical difficulties and errors were described, and recommendations were given that will help avoid these errors.
Senior Lecturer N.P. Novitskaya made a message “The mentor’s electronic register as an element of informatization and technologization of the educational process at the university”. The report identified the difficulties and disadvantages of the traditional organizational and educational work of the mentor and the advantages of introducing an electronic register of the mentor in a modern university.
