XXIST ACADEMIC OLYMPICS FOR SCHOOLCHILDREN AND STUDENTS IN CRYPTOGRAPHY
Rybnitsa schoolchildren, including learners of MEI “Center of Children’s and Youth Creativity” (Entertaining Mathematics), as well as students of the Department of Information Science and Software Engineering of the Rybnytsa of the PSU named after T.G. Shevchenko under the guidance of Associate Professor L.A. Tyagulskaya take part in the International Academic Olympics of Schoolchildren and Students in Cryptography (2022-2023) for a second consecutive year.
The organizers of the Academic Olympics are “Saratov National Research State University named after N.G. Chernyshevsky”, the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technologies, the Department of Theoretical Foundations of Computer Security and Cryptography and the Scientific and Educational Center “Erudite”.
The XXIst Academic Olympics takes place in two rounds.
The first qualifying stage was held in a distant mode from December 5 to 11, 2022 and more than 300 schoolchildren and students from Russia, the Republic of Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, the Republic of Moldova and the Republic of Belarus took part in it.
Students of three age categories (grades 6-8, grades 9-11 and students) had to solve a number of theoretical and practical problems related to the mathematical foundations of cryptography.
According to the results of the first round in the category “grades 6-8”, 3 schoolchildren from Rybnitsa took the 1st place, and 1 pupil took the 2nd place; in the category “grades 9-11” 6 schoolchildren took the 1st place, 2 schoolchildren took the 3rd place; in the category “students” 6 students took the 2nd place.
All the winners of the first round (the participants who took the 1st, 2nd and 3rd places) are invited to the second round, which will be held in a face-to-face – distant mode on January 29, 2023.
