BENDERY TRAGEDY
June 19 is a sad date in the history of Bendery and the whole Pridnestrovie. This day, 23 years ago, the Moldovian armed groups broke into Bendery. It was one of the bloodiest operations undertaken by Moldovian nationalists against inhabitants of Pridnestrovie.
Every year on June 19 Pridnestrovie people call to memory of those who bravely defended the city in the summer of 1992. And today memorable events have been held throughout the country.
The meeting-requiem dedicated to the 23rd anniversary of the Bendery tragedy was in Rybnitsa at the memorial sign to defenders of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic. That meeting was attended by defenders of Pridnestrovie, representatives of the state administration of Rybnitsa and the Rybnitsa district, representatives of the City Council of People’s Deputies, municipal institutions, public organizations, staff and students of the Pridnestrovian State University, the branch in Rybnitsa. Memory of the dead was honored with a moment of silence.
The meeting -requiem was ended with laying flowers at the memorial sign to defenders of the PMR.
We must always remember those who have defended the right to live in a free land. We must do everything what we can not to allow the same event to repeat again.
An imperishable memory of the killed in the action! A secular fame to the living defenders of Pridnestrovie!
