METHODS OF TEACHING FOREIGN LANGUAGES: TRADITIONS AND INNOVATIONS

 On November 11, at the Department of the Germanic Languages and Methods of Their Teaching, a scientific and practical conference “Methods of Teaching Foreign Languages: Traditions and Innovations” was held. The conference was attended by teachers and students of the Department of the Germanic Languages and Methods of Their Teaching.
 


At the conference, 5 reports were heard:
1. Uzun Tatyana A. “Semantic map as a method of introducing vocabulary in German language lessons” (student of the Vth course of the training program “Teacher EducationE, the supervisor is Candidate of Phoilology, Associate Professor Zadobrivscaia O.F.): a semantic map is a visual image of the thought course of each person around a key concept, this is a meaningful basis for creating his own statement.
 
2. Sasina Lyudmila V. “Use of sports vocabulary in German language lessons” (student of the Vth course of the training program “Teacher EducationE, the supervisor is Candidate of Phoilology, Associate Professor Zadobrivscaia O.F.): the purpose of the study is to identify the importance of using sports vocabulary in foreign language lessons at all the stages of study.
3. Grzhegozhevskaya Tatyana V. “Social advertising as a means of teaching and educating schoolchildren” (student of the Vth course of the training program “Teacher EducationE, the supervisor is Candidate of Phoilology, Associate Professor Egorova V.G.): the use of socially oriented advertising in teaching a foreign language and educating schoolchildren can act as a means of forming a worldview, basic moral values, value orientations, views and attitudes of the young generation, a new attitude towards the world.
4. Bargan Elena A. “Scavenger Hunt and its effectiveness in English lessons” (student of the Vth course of the training program “Teacher EducationE, the supervisor is Candidate of Phoilology, Associate Professor Zadobrivscaia O.F.): the scientific work is based on the hypothesis that a form of work called Scavenger Hunt can have a positive impact on pupils’ motivation, and, accordingly, on the results of their work.
5. Shulga Daria Yu. “Corpus as a source of vocabulary replenishment in a foreign language lesson” (student of the Vth course of the training program “Teacher EducationE, the supervisor is Candidate of Phoilology, Associate Professor Egorova V.G.): the corpus is addressed to everyone who is looking for answers to questions about the structure and functioning of the language, i.e. in fact to most educated speakers of this language and to everyone studying it as a foreign language
Communication during the conference was productive, as participants not only presented and discussed theoretical and practical issues, but also exchanged views.
